About Galveston Historical Foundation

Founded in 1954 with roots tracing back to 1871, the Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the architectural and cultural heritage of Galveston Island.

We serve property owners, history enthusiasts, tourists, and the Galveston community by protecting historic structures, operating museums, providing educational tours, and supporting maritime heritage preservation.

Our mission addresses the critical challenge of preserving Galveston's unique historical character in the face of development pressures and natural disasters, ensuring future generations can experience the island's remarkable story.
